What is the K2K Trail?
K2K Trail — Koppie 2 Koppie Trail — is a world-class trail running event set in the ancient bush of Die Bosveld, Doornpoort, Pretoria. Four distances, 800 runners, 2 koppies and The Stone.
What does Koppie 2 Koppie mean?
The race runs from one koppie to another — from the Koppie of Courage to the Koppie of Grit. Koppie is an Afrikaans word meaning both hill and cup. The name carries both.
Is this suitable for first-time trail runners?
The 7km Sandstone trail is designed for trail newcomers, hikers stepping up and families. You will earn your finish — and that is the point.
What are the four distances?
K2K Trail offers four trails — 7km (Sandstone), 15km (Basalt), 25km (Granite) and 50km (Quartz / K2K Ultra Trail). Each trail has its own character and its own challenge.
What is the 50km K2K Ultra-trail?
The Quartz trail: 50km across the full terrain of Die Bosveld. Both koppies. All eight water points. The fastest man and woman’s names are etched in stone.
What does Etched in Stone mean?
The K2K Ultra-trail winners earn their name engraved on a plate on The Stone. The highest honour K2K Trail awards.
What is the K2K Pin System?
Every time you complete a K2K trail, you earn the pin for that trail and year. Pins are collectible and designed to be worn on your K2K cap. One route. One year. One story. Collect them, wear them, tell your story.
What are the Legacy Bib Colours?
Your bib colour shows how long you have been part of the K2K Trail.
Year 1 Cream.
Year 2 Yellow.
Year 3 Green.
Year 4 Orange.
Year 5 Blue.
Year 6 and beyond Red.

How many entries are available?
800 total across all four trails. No exceptions.
Is there a waiting list?
Once the entry cap has been reached, a waiting list will be created.
Is there early bird pricing?
No
What is included in my entry?
A pair of socks, a cap, T-shirt, photo pack, trail pin, and a surprise gift voucher are among the extras.
The remaining trails receive a race bib, photo pack, timed event, full support, goodie bag, finisher medal, and access to the Trail Village.
Can I transfer my entry to another runner?
Entry transfer policy will be confirmed before race day. Check back closer to the event.
On the Day
Where is Die Bosveld?
Doornpoort, Pretoria. Approximately 15 minutes from Pretoria CBD. Ample free parking on site.
What time does the race start?
The Quartz trail starts at 06:00.
Start times for the Granite, Basalt & Sandstone trails will be confirmed before race day.
What shoes should I wear?
Trail shoes are strongly recommended. The terrain is natural bushveld — uneven, rocky in places and rewarding.
Are there cutoff times?
Yes. Full cut-off details will be published 6 weeks before race day.
Is there a mandatory kit?
Yes. A mandatory kit list will be confirmed and communicated before race day. As a minimum, all runners should carry water, a fully charged mobile phone, an emergency whistle, a space blanket and personal first aid.

What is the race number collection process?
Race number collection takes place at the Trail Village on race morning. Bring your entry confirmation. Arrive with time to spare.
The Trail Village
Can my family come?
Yes. The K2K Trail Village is open to everyone — runners, partners, families and friends. No extra ticket required.
Is there food at the event?
Yes. The Stone Table offers long-table communal dining — locally sourced, bush-inspired food. The Kopi Bar serves craft coffee, cold beer and local wine.
What is KoffieBos?
Die Bosveld’s own coffee shop, integrated naturally into the Trail Village experience.
What is the Etched in Stone ceremony?
At the close of every event, the K2K Ultra-trail winners have their names ceremoniously engraved on a plate mounted on The Stone. 10 to 15 minutes. Witnessed by all. Simple. Permanent.
What is The Stone?
The Stone is a permanent rock feature at Die Bosveld, on top of the Koppie of Courage where hikers pass by daily. Each year the new K2K Ultra-trail winners’ names are engraved and added to The Stone. It is the permanent mark K2K Ultra-Trail winners leave on the land.
